Puff Pastry Breadsticks

This is another quick and easy recipe using Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry sheets.  The breadsticks are layered with cheese and herbs to make the flavor richer.  This recipe can be prepared in advance and frozen for several weeks. 

 

INGREDIENTS:

Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheets (2 per package)

1 Cup Asiago Cheese, Grated

1 Cup Fontina Cheese, Grated

½ Tsp. Garlic Powder

1 Tsp. Dried Oregano

1 Egg & 1 Tsp. Water

 

DIRECTIONS:

On a well floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets into a rectangular shape.  In a bowl, mix together the egg and water and brush the puff pastry lightly with the egg mixture.  Sprinkle with the asiago and fontina cheese, garlic powder and dried oregano.  Press down lightly to make sure cheese mixture sticks to the pastry sheet.  Using a knife, cut the pastry into ½” wide strips.  Arrange strips, 1 inch apart, on an ungreased baking sheet.  Holding both ends of the strip, twist the strip, pressing the end into the baking sheet to secure.  Repeat with the remaining strips.  Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for approx. 10 minutes, until golden brown.  When done, cool straws and serve or freeze.
