CAFFE E BEVANDE (COFFEE AND DRINKS)
When I have guests over, I like to offer cappuccino as a delicious alternative to coffee. I have an espresso machine, but have used other modified methods to make cappuccino. This drink is nothing more than espresso and foamed skim milk. If you don’t make espresso, substitute about 3 oz. of very strong brewed coffee. If someone asks for a decaffeinated cappuccino, you can use decaffeinated brewed coffee as a substitute for the espresso. I prefer adding coffee flavored syrups to my cappuccino, and tend to top the cappuccino with canned whipped cream for a decorative touch. Garnish with cocoa or cinnamon powder if desired and a chocolate coffee bean.
This is a delicious liquor infused coffee drink, which is very satisfying on a cold winter night. Your favorite liquors can be substituted based upon your preference. I serve this drink in a decorative glass coffee mug.
This red sangria is my favorite, and I tend to make this recipe for holiday parties. The addition of fruit and berries in the sangria always makes the drink a bit more festive. Serve with additional sliced fruit and ice. The wine and fruit can be varied based upon your preference.
Chocolate Cherry Martini
I like to make this drink for special occasions. This would be a wonderful treat for Valentine’s Day, or a nice signature drink for a dinner party.
Apple Cider Infusion
This apple cider drink is delicious, and perfect to serve during the holidays.
Serve with plenty of ice, and garnish with a slice of apple and cinnamon stick.
I have experimented making a variety of homemade liquors. Limoncello and Kahlua are my favorites, and are relatively easy to make. They just require time to steep. This is an excellent gift for the holidays…just purchase decorative bottles and plan ahead!
Traditional Prosecco Peach Bellini
This Traditional Peach Bellini was made famous at Harry’s Bar in Venice. It has a pink tone because raspberries are added to the peaches to make a delicious puree. Top with your favorite Prosecco for a refreshing aperitivo! (Prosecco is an Italian Sparking White Wine)
Raspberry Basil Limoncello Cocktail
This cocktail is refreshing, combining fresh raspberries with basil infused simple syrup and limoncello.
Frozen Frangelico Coffee
This is a delicious treat, combining the flavors of coffee with Frangelico liqueur, served semi-frozen.
Spiked Lemon Basil Martini
I made this drink recently for a dinner party. It was simple to make, and the flavor was delicious.
This Italian Mojito is a great aperitivo. The fresh basil and lime juice are paired perfectly in this light and refreshing drink.
This is a delicious alternative to the traditional red wine sangria. If you can’t find the Blackberry Syrup, just simmer 1 cup of blackberries with ¼ cup of sugar and let cool.
Grappa with Basil, Sugar & Lemons
This recipe couldn’t be simpler......just mix ingredients in a large glass jar and freeze (I replace the grappa with vodka when making it at home). We enjoyed this grappa in a beautiful Trattoria in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The liqueur was served with a ladle into decorative glasses. How fun!
We enjoyed this liqueur in Assisi, Italy during our cooking class. It was incredibly tasty and so easy to make.
The Tiziano Bellini is a famous aperitivo with a grape juice base. The bellini has a “mojito” flair with the addition of chopped mint leaves.
The Aperol Spritz is the most widely consumed aperitivo in Italy. This is the traditional Italian cocktail which you must try!
Prosecco with Strawberries & Lemon
I have tried many different combinations of drinks that incorporate Prosecco (Italian Champagne). This combination of fruit with the champagne is really delicious. I often make this in the summer, when strawberries are in season. Feel free to modify to incorporate different fruit combinations that you prefer. Limoncello Berry Sangria
This Sangria is also delicious in the summer, when berries are plentiful. The addition of Limoncello adds a nice, bright flavor to the Sangria.
I make different types of Sangria throughout the year. Peach Sangria is a perfect cocktail to enjoy during the summer, when peaches are ripe and plentiful.
This is a delicious option, combining Italian red wine with Cointreau and fresh blood oranges.
Raspberry Limoncello Drop
This is one of my personal favorites. The combination of Raspberry Vodka and Limoncello is a natural. Garnish with fresh raspberries for a beautiful presentation.
Hazelnut Liqueur Coffee
The Frangelico liqueur gives the strong brewed coffee a real “kick”.
This white wine sangria is a nice alternative to the red sangria. I often make this sangria during the summer months, when you can showcase a variety of seasonal fresh fruit. Feel free to modify this recipe based upon your preference. Serve with ice and additional fruit for garnish.

This cocktail is delicious, combining fresh pineapple with basil infused simple syrup and tequila.

Cranberry Lime Vodka Liqueur
I saw this vodka liqueur in a picture on Pinterest and thought it was perfect to enjoy during the Thanksgiving holidays (or any time of year!!). This is the basis for the cranberry martini, found in the Aperitivi Section of this book.
