AMERICANE RICETTE ISPIRATE - ANTIPASTI (APPETIZERS)
Quiche (Pepper Jack Cheese)
Quiche recipes are easy to make, and they are a savory addition to any buffet. I usually make two different versions of the quiche when I entertain. You can change the filling ingredients based upon your preference, and make any number of different recipes, using the basic custard recipe below as your base. This quiche can be made 1 day in advance, and warmed through just prior to your event.
Spinach Artichoke Dip
This is often my go-to dip for parties. It’s easy to make, and the combination of spinach and artichokes, combined with the cream cheese and parmesan cheese is delicious. Serve warm with assorted crackers, fresh vegetables, etc.
I have made these cocktail meatballs for years, modifying the recipe with different types of jam, or adding various types of beer or liquor to the sauce. This recipe is easy to modify and definitely worth trying. It’s a hearty and delicious bite sized appetizer and there are rarely any leftovers.
Cheddar Cheese Puffs
This is an easy cheese puff recipe, using premade puff pastry. The finished product looks great on a holiday buffet, and the cheese puffs taste great warm or at room temperature.
Roast Beef Appetizer Sandwich
This roast beef sandwich is an easy dish to prepare for an appetizer buffet. It’s one of my favorite appetizers because it can be assembled and plated an hour or two before guests arrive. I generally cut each sandwich in half and use a decorative toothpick to garnish.
Stuffed mushrooms have been a staple on my buffet for years. This is one dish that is usually empty by the end of the night. The mushrooms can be prepared and stuffed up to 1 day in advance, and can be baked the day of the event.
Brie with Dried Fruit and Nuts
This is another of my favorite brie recipes, adapted from a Salvation Sisters website. It’s really quite simple, and the presentation is impressive. I have been making this for years with various modifications. (In a pinch, I use caramel sundae syrup in lieu of the brown sugar mixture, mixed with the fruit and nuts on top of the brie). This can be served either warm or at room temperature with crackers and sliced apples, pears, etc.
Baked Tomato Tart
This baked tomato tart is savory and delicious. It makes a beautiful presentation on a buffet. Your guests will be sure to enjoy!
I couldn't complete the La Dolce Vita cookbook without including the cutest holiday penguins into the process. These penguins are silly....but incredibly cute on a holiday buffet. This is a great activity to enjoy with your children.
Hot Crab Cocktail Spread
I have been making this hot crab dip for many years. It’s always on the Christmas Eve buffet, but it’s really so good that it could easily be incorporated into any menu. Assorted crackers are generally served with this dish, but fresh chopped vegetables can also be substituted for dipping.
Harvest Baked Tart
This Harvest Baked Tart is delicious as well. I like to serve this tart with a wedge of double cream brie on the side. Your guests will definitely enjoy this treat!
Bourbon Whiskey Appetizer Meatballs
This is a modified recipe for my appetizer meatballs, using bourbon whiskey in the sauce. Feel free to change the ingredients as you see fit. This is definitely hearty and delicious – and you will not find many leftovers!
Brie with Mushrooms & Herbs
This brie, warmed and paired with mushrooms and herbs makes a delicious appetizer. This was adapted from a bon appétit recipe. Serve with toasted baguette slices and mixed crackers.
Buffalo Chicken Meatballs
We went to a restaurant recently for Nicholas’ birthday. We enjoyed the most delicious bowl of buffalo chicken meatballs, served with crumbled gorgonzola and a light blue cheese sauce. This is my take on that recipe.
Mom's Cheese Puffs
Mom made cheese puffs every time she entertained. These cheese puffs are a perfect savory appetizer bite. The recipe has been modified slightly over the years. Feel free to substitute your favorite cheese.
